For the months of October - December ALAMN's Community Service theme is:  Local Outreach

Cookie Cart was the brainchild of Sister Jean Thuerauf, who saw the need for a safe and engaging place for North Minneapolis teenagers to spend their time. So Sister Jean started inviting the community’s teenagers into her kitchen for help with schoolwork and to learn to bake cookies. It didn’t take long for there to be more teenagers than there was room in her tiny kitchen! Something had to be done. In 1988, Sister Jean formalized and registered Cookie Cart, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a storefront was opened. https://cookiecart.org/

ALAMN and their Business Partners have been supporting the Youth Programs at Cookie Cart for over 5 years now!

In an effort to continue supporting Cookie Cart's program, there are two ways you can assist:  5 minutes or $5

Let’s not let the current health situation deter us from keeping up this tradition, especially now when our outreach matters even more to these student workers. We have changed our in-person bakery mentoring to a Virtual Presentation scheduled from 4:00 – 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020.

  •  Can you give 5 minutes?

We are looking for 5 volunteers to help host our Presentation for the Student Workers.  We are asking you give a 3-5 minute presentation of your current position, why you love it, and all the other jobs & schools & skills that got you to where you are today.  This knowledge is very beneficial and encouraging to them.  Please contact Tracy below to Volunteer.

All ALAMN Members and Business Partners are welcome to view the Presentation as a Spectator.  If there is time at the end we will have Live Student Q&A.  Please contact Tracy below to get on the Spectator list.

  •  Can you give $5?

With the transition to virtual classrooms it is the generosity of the donors that allow them to invest in technology to create the opportunities for the youth to engage in their programs.

ALAMN would like to help Cookie Cart by raising the funds to provide all 70 students at their Minneapolis location the necessary office supplies to help them learn from home

To accomplish this our minimum goal is $350.

You can donate directly at https://cookiecart.org/donate/ and please CC: [email protected] so ALAMN can track/match it.

Register by contacting: Tracy Smith ([email protected]) to Volunteer to do a 3-5 minute Presentation or to sign-up to be a spectator.
