Can you prepare for what you can’t imagine?


  
When active shooters in schools, malls, and work places grab headlines, can you prepare for and have a plan for what is almost unimaginable; an armed person with hostile intent in your office? The answer is yes.  There are steps you can take that will reduce your exposure and measures to put in place that can save lives should the unthinkable happen.
 
Ted Boersma is responsible for facilities & operations in 12 offices for Barnes & Thornburg nationwide. He has recently concluded threat assessments and firm personnel training in all 12 cities on dealing with active threat scenarios. Ted will lead us in a discussion on things to consider and steps to take in upgrading your workplace security.
 
Ted Boersma is Director of Office Administration for Barnes & Thornburg, LLP, where he is responsible for the management of office operational functions and budgets for all firm offices nationwide; including oversight of the firm’s office facilities, maintenance and improvement, supply procurement, budget management, and office procedures and protocols.  He was a three-time president of the West Michigan Chapter of ALA and served on numerous committees and task forces for the association’s national chapter, including serving as chairperson for its international educational conference.
