2014 - 2015 ALAMN SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ANNOUNCEMENT

Through the incredible support of our business partners, ALAMN has the good fortune to offer Scholarships to our Regular Members each year. 

The Application and Nomination Scholarships provide ALAMN Regular Members the opportunity to attend ALA conferences (as outlined in each section below) where they can experience an amazing selection of education sessions, meet other ALA Association members from around the world, and have access to ALA business partners from around the country, all in one venue. 

The ALAMN Board of Directors is pleased to announce the following three Scholarship opportunities:

Outstanding Member Scholarship

ALAMN Outstanding Member Scholarship ($1,575)

To be considered for the Outstanding Member Scholarship, an ALAMN Regular Member must be nominated by another ALAMN Regular Member for outstanding service to ALAMN.  All nominations will be reviewed by the Board and will be kept confidential.  Here’s the link to access additional information and the nomination form:   Nomination Form

Nominations will be reviewed and a winner selected by the ALAMN Board of Directors and will remain confidential.  Scholarship recipients will be notified via email by July 15, 2014.  Each winner will have ten days to accept the Scholarship.

One ALAMN Outstanding Member Scholarship is awarded each year.  Any Regular Member can nominate a Regular Member for outstanding service to the Association.

Opportunity and First-Time Attendee Scholarships

(require interested members to apply to be considered)

ALAMN First Time Attendee Scholarship ($1,575)

Regular members who have never attended a Regional or National ALA Conference are eligible to the drawing for this scholarship. The winner will be required to attend the newcomer’s reception and either be a session manager at conference or submit an article about the conference to The Verdict.

ALAMN Opportunity Scholarship ($1,575)

Regular members who do not have employer funds available to them to attend a conference are eligible to enter the drawing for this scholarship. The winner will be required to either be a session manager at conference or submit an article about the conference to The Verdict.

In order to be considered for the ALAMN Opportunity Conference Scholarship and the First Time Attendee ALAMN Conference Scholarship, you must apply.  Applications must be received no later than July 7, 2014.   Applications will be reviewed by the ALAMN Board of Directors and will remain confidential.  Scholarship recipients will be notified via email by July 15, 2014.  Each winner will have ten days to accept the Scholarship.

General Scholarships (Automatic Entry)

A drawing will take place to choose the winners of the three scholarships below.  All eligible members are automatically entered into the drawings.  Winners will be notified by email by July 15, 2014.  Each will have 10 days to accept the Scholarship.

 

  • Membership Scholarship for attendance at an ALA Conference - $1,575
  • New Member Scholarship - $1,575
  • Past President’s National Scholarship in Honor or Richard J. Nigon, CLM - $1,575
