WANTED!  Service Committee Volunteers!

ALAMN Service Committees serve a vital role in implementing and advancing the Chapter’s mission and goals.  We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate members to share their knowledge, skills and creativity to support and promote our chapter’s success.

As part of a Service Committee, you’ll also enhance your ALA and ALAMN membership in many ways:

  • strengthen your leadership skills
  • have a voice in the decisions that the committees make
  • contribute to projects that improve the chapter’s operations
  • connect with your fellow members on a deeper level

Get involved today by contacting the chair or co-chair of  Committee!  Not sure which one is right for you?  Feel free to attend several different meetings before deciding.  Here’s where you can get involved:

Membership Development Committee – This Service Committee is tasked with creating and implementing member recruitment and retention plans and welcoming new members and helping them get the most out of their membership.   If you like getting to know new people, this Service Committee could be for you. (Chairs: Teresa Reiner and Catherine Gorr)

Education Committee - If you like to plan large scale events, this Service Committee could be for you. The Education and Conference Committee plans the annual educational conference and coordinates the education sessions at the semi-monthly general meetings and annual leadership meeting. You’ll play an integral part in selecting the topics, choosing engaging speakers, and gathering the chapter together to learn and network. (Chairs: Caitlin Niedzwiecki and Jen Lenander)

Diversity & Inclusion Committee – Members of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee are passionate about D&I. They provide resources to the legal community to strengthen D&I efforts at our firms and in our legal departments. One special project that the D&I committee plans is an annual career fair targeted towards students in area city high schools. The effort is intended to help to build a pipeline of students from diverse backgrounds who are interested in legal careers. (Chairs: Curtis Okerson and Jessica Diede)

Community Service Committee – Community service is a core value of ALAMN.  This Service Committee coordinates community service events throughout the year on behalf of the chapter.  Past initiatives have included serving meals at Ronald McDonald House and Simpson Shelter, creating blessing bags for Avenues for Homeless youth, and assisting high school students with mock interviews.   This Service Committee provides the opportunity to connect with fellow member and business partners while giving back to our community. (Chairs: Sheila Johnson and Darlene Downs)

Business Partner and Relations Committee – This service committee oversees the business partnership sponsorship program and works alongside our business partners to develop long-term relationships between sponsors and members.  The BPR Committee also plans the association’s summer and fall socials, in addition to other regular events. (Chairs Patti Ploehn and Vanessa Kahn)

Get involved today - you’ll be glad you did!
