THE LAWYER DISCIPLINE PROCESS – WHAT LAW FIRM ADMINISTRATORS NEED TO KNOW

Law firm administrators play a crucial role in the proper functioning of a law office.  But what happens when an attorney in their firm receives a complaint?  How might a firm administrator help or hurt the subject lawyer or assist or hinder the investigatory process?

Panelists from the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, the Hennepin and Ramsey County District Ethics Committees, and the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility will provide an inside overview of the full disciplinary process from the filing of a complaint, to investigation, to eventual discipline or dismissal.  The discussion will touch upon the various roles played by the LPRB, the DECs, and the OLPR throughout the process and will include information as to what role law firm administrators can play in assisting attorneys who are the subject of a disciplinary investigation.
